Sotirios Stergiopoulos

Dr Sotirios C. Stergiopoulos represents the well-established Laconian Community. He is a distinguished scientist in the field of pharmaceutical biotechnology, a founding member of the biotechnology company “A2A Pharmaceutical” based in New York and dedicated to the promotion of innovative medical research and the creation of new therapeutic methods and drugs. Dr. Stergiopoulos is associated with the Monosegmental School of Human Movement and Quality of Life Sciences of the University of Peloponnese because he actively promotes quality of life through sports throughout his scientific life, while his son George Stergiopoulos is a distinguished athlete of the Spartan Athletic Club.

 

Dr. Stergiopoulos has studied at institutions such as Albert Einstein College of Medicine and Harvard Medical School. He earned a Bachelor of Medicine from the University of Medical Sciences in Poznan (Poland) and a Master of Business in Biotechnology and Entrepreneurship (MBEE) from Johns Hopkins University.

In his long scientific career he has held top management positions at companies such as Bayer, Celgene and Novartis. He has been elected a Fellow of the American College of Physicians, a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians (MRCP) and was also a Fellow of the New York Academy of Medicine and the Royal Society of Medicine (UK). He is also a Fellow of the American Association for Cancer Research (AACR) and the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO).

He holds an advisory position at the Archimedes Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens.

Dr. Stergiopoulos has served as Chair of Fellowships for the Hellenic Medical Society since 2016 and as Chair of the AHEPA Medical Fellowships. He has received an award from the American Cancer Society (ACS) for his scientific research in cancer prevention and treatment.
